We currently offer tax preparation for individual returns. Sole proprietors, single member LLCs and rental returns are considered to be individual returns. We prepare all state returns whether they be resident, non-resident or part year resident returns.
We will prepare corporate and partnership returns only after a consultation appointment.
All returns that are eligible for electronic filing are filed electronically for speed, accuracy and the security of your tax return. It is convenient and free.
Small Business Services and Payroll
In tax year 2016, we are looking to add approximately 3 to 5 new small business accounts to our current small business client base. The services we offer to our small business clients are modified to their specific needs. Any combination of bookkeeping, invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, filing of payroll deposits and tax forms are available. We prepare quarterly tax estimates and monthly/quarterly reviews of your current year balance sheets and expense reports to keep you informed as to how your business is proceeding. Pricing is determined upon the complexity of your needs. For individuals considering a start up enterprise, we recommend scheduling an appointment to review capital expenditures, depreciation and general recordkeeping procedures required for your tax return completion.

Tax Estimate Planning & Review
As part of the tax preparation process we provide a review of your tax withholding and refund. We can help you estimate withholding taxes to increase your monthly available income if so desired. Your individual situation can change from year to year, sometimes reducing or increasing your current refund amount. We can help you plan for next year, so there are no surprises. For our Small Business clients, we can provide you with quarterly estimates based upon actual sales data to minimize your estimated payments. Please contact us for information and pricing.
Free Error Checks
We recommend , when possible, to bring a copy of last year's return when having your taxes prepared. This allows us to perform a measurability check between last year's and this year's return information. The measurability check will show major differences between the two returns. This enables us to see if any errors were made last year or if some data is missing this year. We perform the same free error check for anybody who wishes to have prior year returns checked for accuracy. There is usually no charge for this service. Charges only occur if you would like us to amend your return. We will quote you on the additional amount of refund expected (pending acceptance of the amendment by the IRS) and our charges for this service. Since opening in January of 2007, approximately 55% of our new clients had errors on their prior year's return. Because of this additional service, some of our clients have benefited from amendments with savings of $200 to $5500 in 2007-2015.
Drop Off Service
Walk-in clients are always welcome, but appointments are preferred for better customer service. In today's hectic world we realize that your time is precious. In our attempt to ease any walk-in wait times, we have initiated a drop off service where you can fill out a questionnaire and drop off your tax paperwork. A tax preparer will contact you to schedule a time for you to return, review and sign your tax return after it is completed. With this service there is no need to wait while we enter your information, and you receive the same detailed attention to your return. You can receive a drop-off form in the office, by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by downloading the word document from the icon following this section. As an extension of this service we offer you the opportunity to "drop off" your tax documents by email or fax. Simply scan all applicable tax documents received as well as a copy of your prior year's return and send as an attachment to our e-mail address. If a scanner is not available, you can fax all of your tax documents as well as a copy of last year's return to our office. We ask that you also include a copy of the drop off form completed only to the extent of missing information from the prior year's return such as birth dates and telephone numbers. We can review your documents and prepare your tax return saving you your time during the data entry process. We will require a contact telephone number and a best time to call so that we can discuss any missing or required information with you prior to scheduling a time for you to come in to sign the return. If you find you are unable to find an appropriate time to come into our office, upon payment of the return, we can also e-mail copies of the return in PDF format and discuss any issues with you by telephone. After the telephone review, we will have you sign the electronic file forms and ask you to mail this form to us by postal mail. Upon receipt of your signature, we will electronically file your return and can arrange for a direct deposit of any refunds.
Home Appointments For The Disabled (There is an additional fee for this service)
Our current office location is a first floor store front. However, for those clients who cannot get out, we will make appointments to come to your home and pick up/review your tax documents. Upon completion, we will schedule a time to review the tax return and to get required signatures.
We do not recommend nor will we ever try to sell you a Bank Product. However, for the convenience of our clients who have the need to have their tax preparation fees withheld from their refund, we do offer Refund Transfers (RT) from Santa Barbara Tax Products Group (formerly known as Santa Barbara Bank and Trust). All applicants should not owe any back taxes, child support or be delinquent on student or VA loans. (Additional bank fees are incurred for these products and are not subject to discounts. There is no guarantee of acceptance by the bank for any requested products.)
